A safety valve is a protective device designed to prevent excessive pressure buildup within equipment and pipelines. The opening pressure of the valve can be adjusted within the safe range to a set value, which should be set at or near the system pressure release action value to prevent mis operation. The adjustable safety valve consistently operates as required within a good safety margin (sufficiently close to the set value), thereby reducing operational errors.

When selecting a pressure relief port, ensure it directs discharge to a safe area or piping system. Pipelines must be shut off and drained prior to work. What is the difference between a Relief Valve and a Safety Valve?

Both are to avoid overpressure, but Safety Valves are mainly for steam/gas with quick full-opening, while Relief Valves are for liquid and gas and can provide more moderate pressure relief.

Depending on the frequency of use and operating conditions, we would usually recommend checking every 6–12 months. If functional issues are detected, maintenance or replacement should be performed at the right time.
